Re: Mrs Maggie Ross
She was granted an exemption on 11. 9.1944 and at the same time her husband Harry Ross was made exempt.
Harry Ross is an inmate of Alice Springs Hospital and most likely will stay there until he dies.
She is the mother of Henry Ross who was recently initiated into the Loritja tribe. She also has a
married daughter who has no leanings to the native way of life. Maggie's father is allegedly a
European named Ross who came into this country with the early settlers and is stated to have died
some years agho in South Australia.

Re: Mrs Ada Baxter
Ada Baxter was formerly Ada Hayes and a sister to Frank Hayes. Her father was George Hayes H/C
and her mother Mompy, an aboriginal. She was born at Neutral Junction in Central Australia.
She is at present 32 years of age and is married to a half-caste named Harry Baxter, whom she
married about 1941. She lived with Baxter for about 2 years and they are now separated.
Ada Baxter's children are
Noel, born 4.12.1940, living with mother
Norma, born 9. 2.1946 (approximate), at present at St Mary's Hostel
Martin Frederick, born approximately April 1946, inmate of Garden Point Mission, Melville Island,
removed there about May 1946 with mothers consent
Roger, born 5. 8.1948, living with mother
Beverley Kay, born 22. 4.1950, living with mother
Sidney George Philips, born 21. 1.1953, living with mother
Noel was apparently reared in the Colebrook House in South Australia but has since
returned to Alice Springs.
During August 1951 it was reported that Ada ..censored..oned her child Noel in Alice Springs
and had proceeded to Hatches Creek where she was living with a male European.
Boel and his sister were finally admitted to St Marys Hostel on 14. 9.1951 as wards of this branch.
Ada Baxter's mode of living since she separated from her husband can possibly be judged from
the fact that Noel is the only child of their short union, and the other children are the
result ..censored.. with various other Europeans.
