Age 7 years. Aboriginal Lubra Molly Nullyarri is the mother, and it is alleged that Leo Muldoon is the father. The child is named Nambyi. I once asked the child her name and she stated that it was Mary Muldoon. I could not vouch for the correctness of this. The position is, she is between 6 and 7 years old and J Kennett was instructed to take her to the 'Bungalow' and since I've married Mr Hayes and come to live at the Station it is my wish to keep her if I am allowed. I would take all responsibility of her, unless she became unmanageable, when I would immediately send her to the Bungalow. I could have her educated by correspondence, and would not let her go near the Black Camp. We are very fond of the little thing at present and she is always with us. Trusting to hear from you at your earliest convenience. Yours faithfully Mrs G Hayes _____________________________________________________________________ 28th May 1940 The Protector of Aboriginals Barrow Creek (Thro' the Sergeant of Police, Alice Springs) Request by Mrs Hayes - Halfcaste child A memorandum has been received from the Secretary, Native Affairs, Department, Darwin, advising me of a request made by Mrs G Hayes, of Neutral Junction Station, on 14. 2.1940 for permission to keep at her home a half-caste girl aged between 6 and 7 years.
